In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Berlioz’s death in 2019, John Eliot Gardiner led the Monteverdi Choir, Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique and a cast of international soloists in performances of Berlioz’s first opera, Benvenuto Cellini, across Europe. This tour concluded with a concert at the Opéra Royal in the Palace of Versailles, which is now available to experience on DVD via the Château de Versailles Spectacles website.

As part of their ongoing commitment to the music of Hector Berlioz, John Eliot Gardiner and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique toured an exciting programme of the composer’s orchestral masterpieces across Europe and the U.S. in 2018. This DVD features the concert performed in Versailles’ Opéra Royal, which includes the famous Symphonie fantastique, and sees French mezzo-soprano Lucile Richardot sing La mort de Cléopâtre, as well as excerpts from the opera Les Troyens. The DVD is sold directly on the Château de Versailles Spectacles website.
